Where women's mental health and wellbeing is the focus

About

Julie understands the unique mental health needs of women. She is an experienced clinical psychologist and has expertise in women's mental health and wellbeing. Through her private clinical psychology practice, Julie is dedicated to supporting women through various stages of life, ensuring they receive the personalised care they deserve.

Due to excessive wait times, Julie is not currently accepting referrals for new in-person and telehealth. This will be reviewed next in June 2026.

If your GP has provided you with a referral letter addressed to Julie, you are able to use this with any other registered psychologist without having to have the referral letter altered.

Frequently Asked Questions

A clinical psychologist is a psychologist who is an expert in mental health.

“Clinical psychologists use their knowledge of psychology and mental health for the assessment, diagnosis, formulation, treatment, and prevention of psychological problems and mental illness across the lifespan. They research psychological problems and use their psychological knowledge to develop scientifically based approaches to improve mental health and wellbeing.”   Source: AHPRA

The education and training of clinical psychologists takes a minimum of eight years.

The initial appointment is a little different to subsequent appointments. Whilst your session time will be the standard 50-minutes, time is allocated to answering any questions you have and ensuring you are familiar with important information regarding privacy and confidentiality.

It's normal to feel some nervousness in your initial session and Julie will help to put you at ease through providing a safe, supportive space. The first session is an opportunity for Julie to find out more about your concerns and goals, and for both you and Julie to get a sense of whether there is a good therapy-fit between you. It is incredibly important that you feel like you are working with a psychologist who understands your experience and who you feel comfortable with. Likewise, it's important that Julie is confident she has the knowledge, skills and experience to support you effectively given your goals. In the event Julie does not believe she is the best person for you, she will discuss her reasons for this with you as well as other possible referral options.

Before the end of the session, Julie will discuss options for how she may be able to best help you given your goals, and personalised treatment planning that's tailored to your goals will commence.

The fee for your initial, 60 minute appointment is $300, and $260 for subsequent , standard 50-minute appointments. Whilst these fees are below the recommended $330 per standard, 50-minute consultation by Australia's peak psychology body (Australian Association of Psychologists inc.), they are consistent with regional QLD clinical psychologist fees.

You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for sessions if your GP has completed a mental health care plan for you and provided a valid letter of referral. The rebate for eligible psychological services is $145.25 for a standard consultation with a Clinical Psychologist, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

An alternative to Medicare rebates is seeking a rebate through your private health provider. Please contact your health insurer to see whether you are eligible for a rebate under your current plan.

Bulk-billing is not available. If you require bulk billing, please discuss this with your GP or consider attending a Medicare Mental Health Service if there is one in your area.

Julie does not see clients under third-party programs with the exception of WorkCover Queensland and Open Arms.

Yes, telehealth sessions can be provided using the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Julie does not provide telephone-only appointments unless there are exceptional circumstances. If you require phone only sessions, please contact us to discuss your needs further.

Due to excessive wait times, Julie is not currently accepting referrals for new clients. This decision will be reviewed next in June, 2026. Julie does not use waitlists for new clients as they have the potential to interfere with clients ability to access mental health services when they most need it.

If your GP has provided you with a referral letter addressed to Julie, you are able to use this with any other registered psychologist without having to have the referral letter altered.
